In the race of vaccine development for the novel corona virus, Russia is taking the lead. It is all set to launch Russia’s first vaccine in the world tomorrow. Successfully, this vaccine has completed all the three phases of human clinical trials.
Worldwide, there are 6 candidates of vaccines to have entered in the final stages of human clinical trials. Reportedly, there are top two vaccine making candidates in Russia. The first one is Vektor State Research Centre of Virology and Biotechnology where as the second one is Gamaleya Scientific Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology along with Russian Defence Ministry.
Gam COVID- vac-Lyo is going to be the first vaccine launched for covid-19 in the world. Date for the registration of vaccine is likely to be between August 10-12. After 3 to 7 days of registration, vaccines will be soon available.
According to the TASS reports, it is being said that after the injection of vaccine in humans, it was found that they developed immunity against covid-19 on the 21st day. With the second injection, immunity against covid-19 also got doubled.
Initially, vaccines will be given to the teachers and doctors of Russia. Though, WHO ( World Health Organisation) is tracking all the development stages of vaccines worldwide. As of now, it has not been reported about any vaccine candidate that has completed all the three phases of human clinical trials. WHO affirmed that vaccine development candidates should seriously follow the proper guidelines for vaccine development to produce a safe and effective vaccine.
Health experts has predicted that Russia is trying to cut out some steps of vaccine making more like a shortcut and fast tracking the vaccine making procedures that will eventually put people at risk.
Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute Of Allergy and Infectious Diseses in the united states affirmed, “I do hope that the Chinese and the Russians are actually testing the vaccine before they administering the vaccine to anyone”.
Russia is planning a massive production of vaccines by October. However, the vaccine will be free of cost. Government will manage the cost of vaccine.
